Vintage 1940s Wide Brim Straw Hat with Pleated Ribbon Trim 。This is stunning custom made black straw hat! The hat is black, but the medium width brim edging is made of a navy see-through wide band that has gorgeous gold straw designs, making this hat one of a kind! There is also a navy grosgrain band around the flat crown, which ends in a bow at the back. There is an elastic band attached to the inside of the hat to keep it in place. The wartime 40’s saw a huge variety of hats that were suitable for any face shape, hairstyle or personal preference. Throughout the war & on both sides of the Atlantic, elaborate creations brightened dreary utility fashions, brought about by rationing. There is no designer label, indicating it was a custom-made creation. This is an authentic piece of fashion history! This hat is in wonderful vintage condition & has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years. Feathers, straw, furs, flowers & veils are fragile, given their age. Mannequin not for sale.
